Best AI for Sri Lankan students in 2026: ApilageAI vs BrainUs, Apola AI, Dialog AI and more
A straight comparison of Sri Lankan AI study tools, including BrainUs, Apola AI, Dialog AI, SLT-Mobitel, Sipara and Kuppi.ai, and why we think ApilageAI is the best pick for most students.
Our answer: for most Sri Lankan students, we think ApilageAI is the best place to start. We make ApilageAI, so of course we would say that. Here are our reasons, with the facts about the alternatives, so you can decide for yourself.
The difference is simple. Most Sri Lankan AI tools give you a chatbot. ApilageAI gives you an AI and a community of students who can answer, correct and build on what it says. An AI can sound certain and still be wrong. On exam work, a second opinion from real people matters.
We checked each product’s own website, app listing or launch announcement on 1 November 2026. Products change quickly, so check their current details before you pay.
What you get on ApilageAI
- A public study community where students ask questions and share resources, and where answers come from both people and AI.
- Unlimited chat with free AI models, plus 3 GPT-6 Luna messages and 1 textbook chat each day at no cost.
- Chat with a textbook, and turn a chat into short notes or a mind map.
- A choice of AI models instead of one fixed assistant.
- Apps for Android, Windows and Mac, including Buddy, a desktop study pet that talks with you.
- Blocking, reporting and account deletion that you control yourself.
Dialog AI: broad, but not built around studying
Dialog launched Dialog AI in July 2025 as a trilingual assistant for Sinhala, Tamil and English, with data-free access for Dialog customers. That is a real strength. But it is built for everyone, from farmers to small businesses and tourism workers. Students get note summaries, translation and writing practice, not a study community.
SLT-Mobitel: a data package is not a tutor
SLT-Mobitel’s Hello AI is a Rs 799 mobile package with data for tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. It is useful if you already know which tool you want, but the launch announcement describes data for other companies’ AI, not a tutor of its own. SLT-Mobitel also announced Smart AI at Sri Lanka AI Week 2026, but we found too little public detail to compare it fairly.
BrainUs: strong on gamified practice
BrainUs offers a syllabus-focused AI study companion for O/L and A/L, and a learning platform with quizzes, past papers, streaks and rewards. Its team reports a Bronze award for AI in education at the National AI Expo 2026. If streaks keep you going, it is worth a look. Its site describes rewards and progress, but no community where students answer each other.
Apola AI: a syllabus tutor, without the crowd
Apola AI describes itself as a tutor aligned to the local syllabus from Grade 6 to A/L, in English, Sinhala and Tamil. That is a good fit for one-to-one questions. We found no community features described, so when you doubt an answer, there are no other students on hand to ask.
Other Sri Lankan tools worth knowing
- Sipara AI: predicts likely exam topics from past papers. Predictions are not guarantees, so do not skip topics because of them.
- Kuppi.ai: turns your PDFs into summaries, flashcards and quizzes. Good for revising your own notes.
- DanumaAI: Sinhala-first chat, past paper help and mind maps at LKR 990 a month, with a free trial.
- SriAI: a credit-based tutor at LKR 1,000 a month or more, paid by local bank transfer.
- Nena AI: a tutor with notes, quizzes and flashcards. Its site still described the product as launching soon when we checked.
- AI Sir: photograph a question and get a solution.
What about ChatGPT and Gemini?
They are powerful general assistants. But they are not a community of Sri Lankan students working through the same syllabus, and they do not know which answer your classmates found useful.
Where another tool may suit you better
We would rather tell you this now than have you find out later. If you mainly want past paper exam practice or topic predictions, Sipara and BrainUs focus on that more than we do. If you want Tamil or Sinhala first in everything, test your own questions on each tool. ApilageAI is also a young community that is still growing, and our paid plans are not open yet.
Our old site was also breached, and you should weigh that. We rebuilt the platform and explain what happened, and what we changed, on our security page.
How to choose
Take one real past paper question you already know the answer to, and ask it on two or three tools in the language you study in. See which answer is correct and which one you actually understand. Then always check important answers against your teacher and textbook, whichever AI you use.
If you want AI and other students in the same place, start with ApilageAI. It is free.
